A 21-year-old logger will be questioned today over the murders of two friends who were hacked to death with a machete and a meat cleaver during a weekend fishing trip in Stung Treng province, officials said on Thursday.
Din Phoeurk, the third man to be arrested in connection to Sunday’s double murder, was arrested by military police in his hometown in Kratie province’s Chet Borei district, said Siv Sameth, a deputy provincial military police commander.
Mr. Phoeurk and two others stand accused of killing their friends after a dispute erupted during a fishing trip, said Kun Bunlorn, another deputy commander in the provincial military police.
Two other suspects—Sam Chanthoeun, 23, and Vin Da, 21—were arrested on Tuesday and confessed to killing their friends, identifying Mr. Phoeurk as the third participant in the murders and leading military police to the bodies, Mr. Bunlorn said.
“After hacking two victims to death in the river, the perpetrator [Mr. Da] asked the other suspects to drag both victims away from the river about 50 meters,” Mr. Bunlorn said.
Sun Yeut, a deputy prosecutor, said on Thursday that all three men would be questioned in court today.
