Introduction:* The Sovann Komar Elizabeth Johnson Children’s Village was established in 2003 to provide comprehensive care to 56 orphaned and/or abandoned children in a family setting. In the village, the children are housed with long-term foster families and receive high quality education and health care. The village strives to promote the development of the children physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. The village maintains a library and computer center and serves as host to the semi-autonomous Sovann Komar School, which is attended by more than 200 children.
Duties:* Under the general supervision of the founder/director, the Village Director is responsible for the effective operation of all aspects of the village. Specifically, the Village Director will:

  • Draft strategic plans.
  • Draft annual program plans.
  • Draft multi-year, annual and special budgets for village operations and related activities.
  • Draft quarterly and annual reports to the Board of Directors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Draft, and monitor implementation of, agreements with relevant Ministries of the Royal Government of Cambodia. Ensure all agreements are up-to-date.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local authorities.
  • Provide opportunities for parents, staff, and children, of the village to have appropriate levels of input into decision-making.
  • Mediate agreements among staff and residents of the village.
  • Oversee the organization of special cultural and educational events and service learning activities for the children.
  • Serve as liaison to the Sovann Komar School.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all buildings and grounds.
  • Serve as liaison to local and international programs that provide volunteers to Sovann Komar.
  • Develop terms of reference (TORs) for volunteers and ensure appropriate supervision.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision to administration, finance, healthcare, and village development staff.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
  • 10 years experience in program management.
  • 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with the development of complex, multi-year budgets.
  • Experience developing work plans and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent Khmer and English speaking and writing skills.
  • Experience with children’s programs a plus.

Salary:* $9,00 to $1,200 per month to start, depending on experience and salary history.
