A Malaysian man was caught with more than 2 kg of cocaine hid*den in vacuum-sealed cakes in*side his carry-on luggage at Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednes*day, leading police to an*other Malaysian man who planned to receive the drugs, an official said on Friday.
Both men were arrested and will soon be sent to the mu*nicipal court after confessing un*der police questioning, said In Song, a senior officer in the National Po*lice’s anti-drug department.
“We stopped to check the suspect. We found drugs in cakes in plastic,” he said.
He said Mohamad Rizduan de*parted from Brazil with 2.17 kg of cocaine and arrived in Cambo*dia via Peru and Qatar. His in*tend*ed destination was Hong Kong.
But Cambodian police stopped him be*fore the final leg of the trip, and upon finding the drugs had Mr. Rizduan lead them to Hem*ka*vin Karthig Su, a fellow Malay*sian stay*ing at the Mekong View Tower who planned to receive the cocaine once it arrived in Phnom Penh, Mr. Song said.
