Three men accused of involvement in the robbery and murder of a Stung Treng City farmer whose body was found atop a burning garbage pile were being held on Thursday at the Stung Treng provincial police station while awaiting court questioning, an official said.
The suspects admitted to stealing the farmerís motorbike, but blamed Wednesdayís murder on a fourth man who remains at large, deputy provincial police chief Horm Buntel said.
ďThey already confessed, but they put all the blame on the one who is on the run,Ē Mr. Buntel said.
The body of 48-year-old farmer Doung Chroeung was found by his son atop the flaming garbage pile on Wednesday about 1 km from the manís house in Srah Russei commune, Stung Treng City police chief Chhuok Komal said.
He had been struck on the back of the neck with a stick.
Oy Sophea, 18, Phall Vuthy, 30, and Morng Kiricholsa, 39, were arrested after a villager spotted two of the suspects riding the victimís stolen Honda Dream motorbike, Mr. Komal said.
