Two ethnic Jarai villagers in Ratanakkiri province sought refuge with human rights group Adhoc on Tuesday when they were forced to flee their home after receiving threats from neighbors who accused them of practicing sorcery. Romas Vem, 80, and his wife, Sev Soy, 50, were accused by residents of O’Yadaw district’s Som*trak Chas and Somtrak Thmey villages of using witchcraft to make villagers fall ill, according to the couple’s grandson, Romas Chhoeun. “If they hadn’t left the village, they would have been killed,” Mr. Chhoeun said.
