Two teenagers and a couple in their twenties were injured in a roller coaster accident on Sunday at Chamkar Pring Amusement park in Sen Sok district, police said Monday.
Keo Sothout, district police chief, said that a bolt on the ride came loose and sent two cars on the roller coaster flying.
“The incident was caused by dislodged bolts,” Mr. Sothout said yesterday, adding that the roller coaster had since been fixed and was being operated again.
Phnom Penh Thmei commune police officer Duong Vannak said two of the injured people, Ly Manuth, 27, and his 23-year-old wife Kim Phoeurn, sustained injuries to their head and cuts to their chins from falling 1.5 meters from the coaster and were recovering at Preah Kossamak hospital.
Phoeurk Sopheak, 17, and Chum Sokhom, 18, were taken to a private clinic in Sen Sok, where they received treatment for minor injuries. Mr. Sothout said that tycoon Try Heng owned the amusement park.
“Okhna Try Heng is responsible for this incident,” as there should have been better safety measures in place, Mr. Sothout said.
