An anti-tank mine killed one man and injured two others in Tbong Khmum province’s Memot district on Friday afternoon, a local demining official said.
The three men, aged between 22 and 25 years old, worked for a tile company and were traveling in a truck to deliver a load of tiles to a customer when they ran over the anti-tank mine in Choam Kravien commune, according to Keo Sarath, head of the Cambodian Mine Action Center’s Demining Unit 5.
“One man was killed and two men were slightly injured by the anti-tank mine that exploded,” he said. “The front cabin of the car was completely destroyed by the anti-tank mine.”
Mr. Sarath said that the dead man, An Touch, 25, had sustained serious injuries across his entire body, while Svet Klouk, 23, had cuts on his face and ear and Hoeun Chenda, 22, was badly bruised.
“This landmine was left over from the war, and it was exposed by the rain that made the soil become muddy,” Mr. Sarath said.
