British Airways airplane on fire in Las Vegas...

Kudos to the flight crew for getting the passengers off, safely. (You'll always have sprained ankles and such, when using the escape slides)

In particular while watching the overhead vid-clip, I noted that the flight attendants DID NOT open door L2...as that would have had the people sliding off into the fire area. (It's happened before in aviation history) Good work B/A.

Also, a good spot to have a fire. That position is only around 1,000 to 1500 feet from the airport "fire station".

When I heard it on the radio I had visions of a small engine fire... but that could easily have taken over the whole plane looking at that video...

Looked like a text book evacuation from the news footage. Kudos, as Pabs says, to the Capt' and crew for not panicking.
On our local news this evening, reported that the Captain is due to retire next week after 4 decades with BA. What a way to bow out.
    RIP Nicke June 1971 - Jan 2013.
