I know it's easy to hate on Christmas, but it's the one time a year when I let myself experience irrational positivity. Good will on earth and all that jazz. I can be among the most cynical of pricks at time, but at Xmas I let that shit go, refuse to get angry, be the better guy and let people off the hook.

I decorate the apartment, I buy gifts for Taky and her friends, I drink too much wine and I watch holiday movies with reckless abandon... but it's the one time per year I give myself permission to be this way. And I understand if someone doesnt like the holiday... maybe they had negative experiences... but for me, I let it all go and just try to enjoy the decorations and good feelings and altruistic movies... and eat and drink way beyond normal capacity... why the hell not?

^ me too pretty much...minus the decorations and anything to do with the Immaculate Conception etc...its a time for goodwill...doesn't cost anything and it does make you feel better about mankind for a minute

But imo it is all a myth, based on a lie (the birth of Jesus in a manger) with a further lie based around the Santa Claus myth to promote commercialism..should we really be promoting that particular lie to our kids?...555

only an asshat behaves like the Grinch at Xmas....it's pretty easy to let things slide for a day or two....doesn't mean you can't still keep your healthy cynicism hiding under your hat though

I think its because of your white beard and little bit of a stomach you enjoy Xmas so much , all the girls asking you to empty your sack , it must be a lot of fun xxxx

One of my most embarrassing LoS moments....a few years back walking down Bangla on Xmas Eve with a bit of a swagger on....a BG shouts out "hey Santa Clause.....I want to fuck you".....555

I think a lot of families do a much better job these days of not making Xmas about so many gifts.
They of course still give gifts but most of my friends here do a very good job of limiting the gifts and also letting the kids know how lucky they are.
Much more so in Vancouver than the US, I'd say though.
Although even in the US a lot of people seemed to reign it in.

My mom, and my sister now...... Spent way over her means.

I still buy Ao a pretty expensive gift for Xmas but its the one time a year we spend a lot on gifts.
We don't really do too big for bdays of anniversary.

As for any sort of religious myth.
Xmas has long gone by that I think of it in religious terms.

But I do love some of the religious carols and love some of the grand nativity scenes/sets people put out.

Hell the Easter Bunny is a myth and I live him too!! 555

Don't know if posting this is appropriate in this thread 555. But always gives me a chuckle. Santa and Jesus were white?
