    We already have means of making sea water drinkable. But they're all too expensive to implement. And I'd imagine this would be as well. I think they're downplaying the amount of electricity it takes to do this.

    My pool tank does the same thing. There is an electrode that zaps the water as it passes through the pump, neutralizing the salt and extracting chlorine. All I have to do is add a couple of bags of salt every week and I'm good.

    But fuck, does that thing use electricity or what?

    3 volts to produce nanolitres. Would that have to be scaled up to produce practical quantities or is 3 volts all that is needed to create the ion depletion no matter what the size?

    Small solar powered units along every coast with enough sun, that is a game changer.
