    R.I.P Nicke 4 years on

I just thought it should be remembered that Nicke our friend, MTB and PI owner passed away 4 years ago today...

Nicke was a great friend to many of us and in many ways bought us all together...I am sure that like me many BMs in here have fond memories of time spent with him both in MTB and outside of the joint....

RIP Nicke...you will always be remembered....pic from happier times at Trent's wedding

My last photo of Nicke, taken at his house. It was a sad day he left us

Thanks Nels' for the thread, memories, and picture.

Those two beautiful little girls (Nathalie and Annika) were surely the light of Nicke's life...he loved them without end.

I used to leave my golf clubs at Nicke's house, as we frequently played together. I would ride my scooter to there, and we would take his car to the course.

I remember one day, I showed up at his place in the early afternoon (as usual), for a planned round of golf. As I parked my motorbike and was putting it in an aside parking spot, little Nathalie came "waddling" out of the front door shouting "Pabo, Pabo", pointing with her stubby little fingers. By the time I'd walked onto their veranda, here comes Nathalie out of the front door again, this time with my golf shoes in hand...rather one in each hand. As she handed them to me, she said "Papa shleeping". 555

Stuck in my memory, as it cracked me up.

I hope the girls are OK and doing well, I think of them from time to time.

R.I.P. Nicke, we all miss you for sure.

Ead regularly posts on Facebook with photos of the girls. They are growing quickly and Nicke would be so proud of them. Ead has done a difficult and wonderful job of raising them both.

^I think that was the day also. He had stopped at Summer Breeze that night before work to eat. He actually refuse a beer saying he need to cut back. The morning of the next day I was called and went to the hospital. His parents and family were all there and I may have been one the the first to speak to his parents when they proclaimed that he had passed.
One of the saddest days of my life.

    wow, four years ago. RIP.

Nicke died WAY too young and entirely the Wrong way.
    Poor kids and poor Ead.
We all have to go someday, but his departure was just not right.

If his exit was on 31 Jan he could as well have been "in my family"
My dad, my mom and two brothers ALL passed on 31 Jan (between 1987 and 2017)
I call it "grim reaper day"

Thanks for bringing this up Nels.
I only posted a short RIP as I was never part of the MTB crowd as such as I was an occasional visitor.

However I believe it gives a little bit of reality and memory of the makeup and people on here that used to post on PI. The dynamic if you will.

I only met Nicke twice and didn't know him well. I can honestly say that he is one person that sticks in my mind as a perfect example of first impressions aren't always accurate.

The first time I saw him at the bar (after being on the forum for a short time, which made me look for it) I saw a bloke that I thought would rather have a fight than a fuck 55

I wandered over and introduced myself and he was possibly the most hospitable and cordial bar owner I've encountered.
I mentioned I was on the forum and he immediately introduced me to tanman, I think Irish Johnny and a couple of others that I now forget who were obviously regulars.

He was a people person. So was Eade and the staff.
I never spent a lot of time there, however on my short stays, I was welcomed as if I was a friend and he never knew me at all. And it wasn't just about business.

I agree with LiL that it does seem longer for some strange reason.

    Wow 4 years

It's a bit strange when I think about it - in some respect if it wasn't for Nicke/MTB I likely wouldn't have moved to SE Asia. PI was the sole reason I chose Patong for my first trip to Thailand, and visiting MTB back then led to many other things (good and bad) which made me fall in love with SEA, which ultimately directed me to where I am now. Even with the ups and downs I'm so glad I did it. Got to visit many more countries, meet some great people, and really "get out" of my shell when I was bored to death with England.

    Such a shame RIP Nicke.

This thread got me thinking more and more about "happier times", and my First visit to Phuket/MTB in Jan/Feb 2005.

Decided to add just a small few pictures for remembrance sake.

Looks like thy're ready to close up...

I got a hold of one of Nicke's famous "Bar Guides" for farangs. 5555
