Just confirmed with Oli, he was out yesterday with his neice and had a heart attack.

Very premature for a nice guy and one of us.

Apparently its on Facebook for those who are connected.

What a shame, met Stevew once in Conwy which is close to where I live. It was a lunchtime, he had 6 pints when I was with him ( I had 2) and he had an hour to go when I left him before his train was due. Worked long hours in the restaurant from what I remember in Barmouth. Genuine nice guy in real life and also on the PI board. Don't remember him falling out with anyone. About the same age as me I think, 52? RIP.

Wow, just shocked to hear this. Always a nice guy. Seemed to always enjoy a beer and conversation.
    RIP.

Such a shock to hear about Steve, I was up the coast in my campervan very near to Tony's restaurant which Steve's family owned ,I was talking to the campsite owner he said he was due to go out for dinner and had a phone call to say reservation had been cancelled ,then he said apparently the chef had passed away and the restaurant was closed,
Jeez you can imagine my shock knowing who the chef was, R. I.P Stevie lad.

found out about it yesterday when i got back from work. it was a heart attack and unfortunately there was nothing they could d to save him.

it was only 2 days ago when we started planing a trip to Lanzarote in december. he and BM Dawsey (and this year Steve@thaib as well) used to come over to Switzerland for a visit. always great long weekends where true friendships were made.

Man i'm going to miss him a lot. he had a great sense of humour and was a great friend.

    RIP Steve, see you later

It is with great sorrow I heard that our friend Steve has gone away. I met steve at Mai Thai Bar in 2009 and we became friends and have met many times in Thailand after that time. It's not more than a week since we chatted and he asked if I would join Lanzarote in early December ...
Rest in peace my friend, we meet again on the other side!

Just logged inn here today. Knew it from facebook and it was shocking news. A true gentleman and he will be missed a lot. He brought a blow up sheep for me on one of his visits to Koh Phayam :-)

It's been a rough week up here, we lost a 4 year old Burmese boy, the old village headman (62), and a good drinking buddy and speed boat driver (44).

It really makes me think, and even reconsidering my lifestyle and place of living. Sometimes I think it's about time to head back to Norway and start a "normal" life.

Do you drink every night you work in your bar?

I don't drink everyday, just when out
But if I owned a bar, it might be an issue because I'd always end up drinking with my customers......especially in a place like Thailand

The owner of Alice bar didn't drink with customers. He stayed sober on coffee.
And then he was murdered by his wife and her Thai boyfriend.
Same same (end) but different (way).

Steve's funeral will be held on Wed 20th Sept.
Sadly too far for me to make the 500 mile round trip.

I hope he gets a good send off. Sure he will.
