    Hotel scrutiny of Thai families

Ao and her family will be in Cha Am for Songkran
most stay at her Aunt's house but she likes to get a hotel

her, her mom and son would stay at the hotel
usually Ao and I check into a hotel and then her mom and son come and her son stays with us the whole time and no one seems to care

but Ao is worried that because it is just Thai's checking in, they will be a bit more strict and possibly make them pay more
he is now 12yrs old and definitely not a little kid anymore, either

    what do you think?

also, i came across a hotel in Cha Am that actually stated that they charge a 600baht surcharge to Thai families on weekends!!
    talk about different pricing

Thai families like to get a room and stuff as many people into the room as possible...

If that is their game then you can hardly blame the hotel.

Same as some bars in Bkk charge Arabs 100 baht to get in, but if you are white you get in for free.

    Know your customer...

Cha am.. A Thai weekend getaway.. Where a 12 person family will get a room, sleep on the floor, share stinky bplaa ra so tam, and leave all the bought outside the hotel food wrappers all over.. And not think they are doing anything wrong.

Hadn't they cleaned the room before you checked in?

Stayed in Novotel Cha am for one night last Friday.
Nothing special, but more than 90% of clients. That night were Thai, according to the staff.

i ended up booking a hotel
there was no way around paying a higher rate for thai to check into a nicer hotel in Cha Am
it was 78cad vs 108cad/nt for a Thai

it is Cha Am, very popular with Thais
but they end up trying to put 5-6 people in a room
so either a deterrent or trying to recoup some missed charges

this will only be my wife, her mom and my stepson
we already paid for the "extra" person
so hopefully they don't try and pull a fast one on her when she checks in
but believe me, Ao doesn't let people pull shit on her anymore
she will call them out if they try and overcharge

Oooh i can see why they will charge more then.

Me and a group of friends checked into a room maximum for 4 people, but there were 10 of us. Slept on beds and floor, HaHa. Students with not much budget. It was in a hotel in Penang. The receptionist stared at us when she saw so many entering the lift when only 2 person checked in at counter.

Am sure Ao will be strict with them !!!

yeah, when we'd go to Florida on spring break, we'd have 8 to a room
but then again, those hotels weren't exactly the Shangri-La! 555

I booked Novotel two days before arriving. Was more than 4000 and then went down to 2750 two days before check in. Sometimes it pays to wait for last minutes.

well she checked in with very little incident

i think they overbooked the hotel and tried to tell her that she wasn't in their system but she had all the receipts and vouchers, so they finally gave them a room
didn't even check Nuts age and we had already paid for his breakfast( very important of course 555)

i am glad i am not there, she said you literally can't drive a car because it is so busy there
