    Food obsession

obviously we know Thais are obsessed with food

    but it really gets insane

AO has become a bit more savy online and will check Tripadvisor when looking at hotels
basically every Thai review on TA for a hotel is wether their food is good or not! nothing else

Ao just called having landed in Thailand
she took Eva Air for the 1st time

    her-"I don't think i like Eva"
me-" how was upper deck?" ( she sat upper deck 1st time)
    her-" good. i liked it"
me- "how was the over all service"
    her-" very good"
me- "so why don't you like it"
her- " Cathay has better food"!! 555

so her whole review of a 20hr trip is based on what they served for food!

So that proves it. Keep your TG full on Som Tam and BBQ dog on a stick and she'll be content.

I have friends who choose to fly Singapore Airlines over Malaysia Airlines due to better food.

The way to a TG's heart is through her stomach.

I have to fly QF to the states in Oct... I dread the slop I'll be served in economy.

She is correct though. Eva is crap unless you're in first class. Sometimes I bring my own sandwiches and pass on the meals all together.

Been years since I've last touched what airlines try to pass off as food, I actually get ill if I try.

Might have something to do with coming off a 16 day bender with a nasty infection, sick as a dog and sat right next to where the china airline staff heated the meals.

The infection turned out bad tho, got myself to the doc with over 41 in fever and pretty near dead

You are generalizing from a demographic that has been hungry - real hungry - before, where a good meal was cold rice, weeds and nam prik if they were lucky.

BTW - they are mostly not fat cnuts like us ...

So who cares how much and how often they eat ?

They also know life with a falang can be transient - so get fed while he's paying 555!

it was meant as a light heartened observation, EB

    Cathay actually has decent food

but toi be honest, most of the North American make you purchase food and while people bitch about it, the food to purchase is actually good
so i'd rather pay 5-6usd for a decent sandwich than a free mediocre meal

    Re: Food obsession

I can quite understand choosing Singapore over Malaysian Airlines ... Air Asia food isn't much cop either. I have resorted to buying carry-on food, wraps or Subway ... ei: 2 x 6" BMT's ... far healthier, tastier and goes further on a long flight.

One trip, a Jap couple sat next to me with carry-on 'hamburger with the lot', and upon leveling-off in flight, they proceeded to eat using chopsticks .... funny as, especially the slide-out greasy egg which kept falling into their laps.
    Cheers, Rob.

It's the smell that gets me too, sandwiches and desserts are ok but no go on anything heated, turns my stomach.

    Airline food????

When you're couped up for hours in an airliner and you're hungry...well?

Or as we used to say "anything to make a turd!"
