Yeah, been looking at that one for some time now, especially when Phuket gets pummeled with heavy rain and wind. Seems to be either sling-shots from Vietnam or, as is the case now, around Banda Aceh. Kind of gives you an idea how much the landmasses matter... and location, location, location. Interesting tracking the tornadoes around the Philippines as well.

Absolutely love those visualizations... And also fun prying into the javascript libs used whenever I see them.

I have not been tinkering with the settings much though, and yours look way better than my defaults. Which now also became mine...

Yeah, really amazing stuff. Looks like they've also changed their mapping engine to leafletjs which I am also using for map overlays.

Not really related perhaps, but it's amazing the kind of web apps you can build with open-source javascript libraries. Mostly looking for libs with MIT licenses these days.

Really cool to watch the next (super?) El Nino unfold... live... Can clearly see the warming in the central to eastern tropical Pacific, and cooling south of Indonesia. Very similar to conditions in 1997.
