    Aretha Franklin

Ailing Aretha Franklin 'at peace with her journey': report | Fox News

Sadly, it looks as if the "Queen of Soul" is not long for this world.

I always liked her and her music...she'll be missed.

A favorite scene from "Blues Brothers"". 5555

Apparently she is back home now and not doing as badly as first feared. Her family are trying to stop her from watching the news in case she sees that she is supposed to be near death. Be nice if she does recover. Love her music too.

Aretha Franklin 'alive, alert and laughing' amid rumoured cancer battle

Opened this thread expecting to see she had passed away. Reports were saying she was close to death so its nice to see her hanging in there.

I was in my teenage years when "I say a little prayer" was released. Loved it and her music.

    Shame..........that recovery didn't last long.

Is a shame. The family must have been putting on a brave front for her. Inspirational lady on so many fronts...

    RIP

She indeed had an amazing voice, wrote great songs, and though was carrying a few extra pounds she was stunning beautiful.

    My favorite:

At 73 sill could carry the voice and still beautiful

This probably makes me sound gay for some reason 555... but I'm still convinced that I was a big, beautiful, black female singer in an earlier life. Cannot get enough of them. Paired with a double bass and it rarely gets better than that.

So ok, not Aretha... but within that same tradition. China Moses' hommage to Dinah Washington singing Cry me a River. Absolutely love it.

Not really uncommon in various rebirth myths to switch gender and race. Of course I don't actually believe in that stuff... but I've always wondered where my taste in music comes from. Why can't I have the soul of a big, black female jazz singer? Please, pretty please? Physical appearance has nothing to do with matters of the soul 555. It’s one of the genres of music I’ve come to enjoy the most for reasons I cannot readily explain.

Not sure what torments Guns n’ Roses fans must have endured in previous lifetimes 555.

Get out there in the game, don't sit up in the bleachers. That is the philosophy of pimps and preachers.
