    Our daughter's band.

Our youngest daughter Alicia is currently completing a diploma of music at Oxygen college in Geelong.

She is a pretty talented vocalist, can play guitar and keyboards, but is predominantly a vocalist.

Her latest venture is a band with a few of her friends from college.

They have scored a number of gigs locally and go by the name of "Crum Town Radio" !

This is their wacky, but in my opinion pretty cool photo !!

In the looks department shes their best asset ... perhaps she should have got a more prominent position - good luck to her and her career mate.

I guess kids these days think uncool is the new cool.

They are all very talented musicians though. The kid to the left is Alicia's latest boyfriend.
He's the drummer and man can he belt the skins.

Can't wait to get to one of their gigs in a few weeks !!

    I'm hearing you man !!

I've had to scare a few off over the years.

Had a boy sniffing around years ago. Now I look back I can laugh, but at the time he wasn't laughing.

I'm lying around on the lounge the day after a round of night shifts, our eldest daughter is there and I think about 15 at the time.
The next thing I know I hear a thumping baaaaaaaaang on the roof.

I jump up and bolt out the front, only to see a kid off and running down the driveway.

I'm off after him and collar him just before he gets the better of me.
    It's a mate's son.

What the fark are you up to Brett?

I just wanted to see if Tess is home..........Well (boot up the arse) knock on the freaken door next time boy !!

Fast forward 10 years and Brett's a level headed, high earner with impeccable manners - and still good mates with our daughter.

I remember talking to his old man at the time, who's at the same level as me at work, but in a different department and saying he needed to teach his boy some manners - half jokingly.....

All good now though. Our kids are well balanced, well mannered members of their communities !!

    Oh man!

It hit me about 6 years ago, I was out back next to one of my mechanics. We were braging about our kids. He had a 14 year old girl, I had the 3 boys, 12-16.

I said "my sons are the best, strongest, smartest....blah-blah 555"

He said he's daughter was voted most beutiful in her school...blah...

I said, " I'm worried about them fecking around and getting a girl pregnant"

He said....and I quote..." Yeah boss, you have to worry about 3 d1cks...I have to worry about 3 million.." Un-quote!!!

    I. Bow. To. Fathers. Of. Girls.....

We heard Crum Town Radio live for the first time yesterday.

Soooooooo Proud of our youngest daughter.

You WILL be a star one day darling !!

It was a beautiful sunny day in down town Geelong at Leura winery.
So much exceptional talent during the day, - all Diploma students from the same (Oxygen) music college.

Well done to them all, especially our girl.

Those pain-in-the-ass kids can somehow make it all worthwhile huh?

Watching them progress into adulthood is like watching a movie on fast forward, only pushing the pause button every now and them.55

My middle boy just nonchalantly text me a picture of a certificate that said he was a member of the presidents society at his university.

Ffs. It's reserved for the top 1% of the entire school! And he's studying aero-space engineering!! 555

Don't get me wrong, he is still VERY much a pain in the ass..5555

Well done to ya boy slam !!

Its all the little things that can piss you off with kids, - like, I need a new outfit for this gig. So she goes on a shopping trip with her mum and gets a new dress, etc.
Comes back and puts on what look like a daggy old pair of denim shorts, with no sign of the new dress we just forked out for.......
And then I find out the shorts are brand new and I'm like WTF....

Her band did surprise us though and not just our daughter's singing. The guy who's hidden behind the speaker in the first shot can really belt out a tune too.
And the guitarist in the second shot (Crum) is a master of almost any stringed instrument. And the kid on the drums has been asked to tutor drums next year at the college.

just heard the college's sound engineer wants to cut a CD with the band, which is a pretty big deal as he apparently never offers...........
I think this will be a big spur for them to keep writing songs.

Can't wait to hear it as like I said earlier, they really are a talented bunch !

    that is a good song

question? how come everyone sings with non-accents, or i'd say American accents?
    are they taught that way?

the biggest one you notice are the Brits
their singing voice is nothing like their talking voice

I used to wonder that when my sisters listened to Abba and I'd be perving on the blonde one, then I heard her speak in an interview and thought she was taking the piss = 555

some hipsters are pain in the asses, acting against the grain to try and be too cool

BUT....i actually respect a lot of hipsters, they found their niche and don't worry about the "cool people"
plus, hipsters in Vancouver have done a great job of finally open some cool mom and pop restaurants
before when i got here there were none

They had their first air play tonight, with a Canberra based FM station playing their song "Test Your Faith" !

And JJJ has them noted on their "Unearthed" page, so things are moving steadily along for them................
