On his webpage, he claims to have full blown tourettes..

Having seen a kinda sad, but also darkly funny documentary on the affliction, this seems the same.

I once saw a doco about people with tourettes. It's a misconception that they always swear.

Some whistle, make odd noises or sudden movements all the time or yell out random things. It's not just swearing. So this might be staged. But then I don't know enough to say for sure.

But I still laughed a little. Woulda lost that bet to LIL for sure.

Had a friend who had Tourettes, in the early stages she would just come out with either a swear word or a obscene word or short sentence completely out of the blue. Then be perfectly normal for ages, then do it again.

Have not seen her now for years, but sadly she said this was just the start of the illness, no cure and she was only going to get worse. Damn good looking girl as well, but even so, how could you put up with a relationship with a partner who uncontrollably swore or was obscene any any given moment?.

I think in private or aimed at you, you'd understand and could tolerate it, might even be something you could make fun of together in some circumstances, but in public or meeting someone important to you??
Custard should be a colour...cos I could then paint over the mess I've just made!!!

    What do we want?
    "A cure for Tourette's!
    When do we want it?
    "Cunts!"...

    @ Dodge

I found that quite a sad story.

I mean why not just tone it down to an habitual phrase which is understood that the person is struggling with Tourette's and that is how it is.

Maybe I don't understand the syndrome properly.

To add....just leave out the swearing, derogatory words.

Surely one can be 'advised' to do that.

Can't get my head around it to be honest.

I don't think Tourette's sufferers have any control of the "what" or "when" let alone the context...

Bit like advising someone to control their hiccups... it's more like uncontrollable random chronic hiccups... but rather it's swear words that come out instead...

Don't confuse it with what Slampay has put in his will... 55

But hiccups are physiological. You can't stop a heart attack or a stroke.

Tourette's I would think is psychological....should be able to be managed.....possibly only after you have analysed and treated what is causing it.

Or are you saying it is like Schizophrenia?

Even that can be managed these days depending on severity.

Yeah you are right, it is a neurological condition, like a tic. Throat clearing, eye blinking, sniffing etc. But I think managing it is a bit more complicated than offering advice. Gareth Gates a pop singer had a condition where he struggled to talk properly without stuttering... but once singing he was fine...

Just saying that it isn't a superficial condition...

Tourettes isn't the right term for uncontrollable swearing, it's more uncontrollable ticks, twitching or vocal (can be anything from growling to uttering words and phrases).

Coprolalia is the term for uncontrollable swearing.
