    Evander Holyfield vs Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney rumbles with Holyfield in boxing match - CNNPolitics.com

Though not billed as big an event as the recent "bout" in Las Vegas, I think this is worth a look.

Kudos to Romney for knocking Holyfield down once, in the second round.

As with most big time boxing matches though....I think it was rigged!

Romney: still like him....and god, I wish he had beaten Obama.555555. I think he's as near as it gets to being an honest politician. Good sport and genuinely a nice guy.

Don't really want to get into another fight on this, but I am actually genuinly curious. As to:

    (1) Do you believe that Romney has ever lied in public? And if so when?

    (2) Why exactly would you consider him more honest than other politicians? Are you keeping score? Or just from the gut?

^^^55555 "has he ever lied in public"....you really must be joking.....who in this world has never lied in public? I believe if you read my statement again, I did not infer that he had never lied in public.
I'd say that he is MUCH of an honest politician than the liar in chief...and as for Hillary......well...

It was just a question Bill. Seriously. Just a question... I have actually discussed this before with a conservative friend, were we wanted to compare the lies of W. Bush and Obama. It became an impossible exercise as he would not accept that W. had lied even once in public 555. Regardless of which, I don’t believe it is even possible to determine objectively who is more “honest” amongst politicians.

I bet you through that there exists a very strong correlation between people you believe is honest and people you agree with on issues. Near a perfect 1 I would guess. We have an extreme bias when it comes to judging other people as ideologies collide.

So what do I believe? I have absolutely no idea. I could probably cite tens of lies from each of the three of them off the top of my head. But I’ll never engage in a count and compare exercise again…

EDIT: Ha ha... Steve Benen did actually try. I wonder if Obama ever managed 533 in 30 weeks? That’s 2.5 lies every single day. That’s just pathological 555. Not that I have, or ever will bother to, verify a single one of them.

Mitt Romney tells 533 lies in 30 weeks, Steve Benen documents them

That article is dumb imo. Just clicking on #1 that's hardly a lie. That's just an interpretation of what he thinks Obama did and said. It's the author who is taking what Romney said as literal. I haven't clicked on the others but if the first one is like that I imagine all the others are just as ambiguous. They are certainly no 'I did not have sexual relations' quality.

But that is exactly my point though... That is, how utterly futile it is to attempt a scorecard to somehow objectively measure honesty. It simply cannot be done.

Someone else could then produce a list of Obama's lies... and it becomes a complete waste of time trying to sort out the legit ones. With regard to the first lie, yes, I absolutely agree that's debatable, but others are most certainly not. Point being, going through and scutinizing possibly thousands of these kinds of vague statements is simply not a worthwhile task.

Sure, Bill is convinced that Romney is more honest than Obama, same as near 100% of his fellow conservatives... and same as near 100% of liberals are convinced of the exact opposite. That's an awful lot of certainty... And an awful lot of gut...
