    Your best ever cricket side

The current ashes series had me thinking about who I wished was still playing for Australia so we could maybe one day beat the poms again.
That lead to who I'd pick in my team regardless of country of origin so thought I'd post up a quick list and see who others would pick as I'm obviously in a certain generation and come from a single country that would bias my thinking.

Also I have a shit memory and would like to reminisce on some of the great cricketers I have forgotten or never seen close or often enough to respect their talents that others would select.

Pick your side on order of selection but it should also comprise a 'team'. That is generally say 4 bowlers, a keeper and batsmen....mix and match that to suit, it's not a competition.

My team from 10 minutes consideration:

    Don Bradman
    Gary Sobers
    Glenn McGrath
    Shane Warne
    Sachin Tendulker
    Viv Richards
    Brian Lara
    Adam Gilchrist
    Joel Garner
    Graeme Pollock
    Richard Hadlee

    12th man: Jaques Kallis

I always liked Jonty Rhodes......revolutionised fielding imo

Besides that would say Dale Steyn should be there.

You already mentioned G Pollock and Kallis.

As a Captain I really liked Hansie Cronie but unfortunately lost his way cheating....so strike him.

Steve Woare (sp?) was a great Captain I thought.

    Ian Botham?

I'll pick a team, but it has to be players I have seen, so despite my age , Bradman is out 5555. I'll also pick them using their usual batting order so I have two openers etc. What do you make of this side?

    Barry Richards
    Sunil Gavaskar
    Viv Richards
    Brian Lara
    Gary Sobers
    Virinder Sehwag (?sp)
    Adam Gilchrist
    Dennis Lillee
    Glenn McGrath
    Shane Warne

    12th man
    Ian Botham/Richie Benaud.......... I can't decide.

Hmmm too many Aussies and a token Pom as 12thman 5555

I watched Clive Lloyd's 110th test (and last test match ever) at the SCG in early 1985...despite being beaten in that match (they had already won the series) I think that the below West Indian team is probably the best test cricket team that I have ever seen

    Haynes
    Greenwich
    Lloyd
    Richards
    Richardson
    Gomes
    Dujon
    Marshall
    Garner
    Holding
    Walsh

Bloody hell Nels looking at that side it's no wonder Allan Border's nickname was captain grumpy!

Getting up in the morning to play them wouldn't be something many would relish.

Was that the series that Holding sat down at the end of his runup and refused to bowl when given a bad decision? I'm thinking not as my memory says I was very young when that happened.
