    Chiang Mai hotel

You guys have any hidden gems or recommendations for a hotel in Chiang Mai for next month?
It is for Ao, her mom and son

Something close to the markets, walkable in the touristy areas, street food.
    Has a pool, breakfast

    In the 1000-1500 range

    Thanks

I would recommend they stay near Tha Pae Gate, just for the ease of being able to walk to everything.

For my friends, I recommend Imm Hotel, but that might not be nice enough for your fam... not really a luxury place, more like avg hotel with terrific location.

I'd prefer to just book her into the Meredien with my points but she prefers smaller hotels when it is just her and her mom and son.

Actually that looks perfect for them but she really wants a pool
But that type of hotel with a pool, near street food is perfect.

Raming Lodge. Ticks all the boxes.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

On Booking I always look for a hotel close to the nightlarket. There are a lot of hotels from prices like the Meridien to cheaper ones like the Centara like I mostly use, or the Royal palace. There mustbe hotels there around 1500 Baht

    Do you like the Centara?

It is nothing special, but good and central for that price. It is a huge hotel, can be busy. There stay quite a lot of Thais there, so no problem at the pool (which isn't to big). Always foung a seat in the shadow.

Eurana Boutique Hotel (Chiang Mai, Thailand) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

Eurana is walkable most places - and a cut above the norm, and pleasant for family stay.

Of course I'm sure urtheman would take care of you @ Grandview

I have stayed there it was pretty good, clean ,good location.all you would expect from a 3 star.

I have also stayed at Dungtuwan, did't like ,the room was shabby ,old carpet, stunk of cigaret smoke.
The hotel looks much more grand and impressive on the outside,
that was 5 years ago ...maybe better now.

Centara Duangtawan isn't such an old hotel, nothing shabby. There are some older hotels around, like Suriwongse (although recently renewed), Royal Princess, Ping and some others. You should ask a non smoking room. They once offered me a free upgrade to a smoking room. Opening the room door I turned around and prefered to wait till a non smoking room was available.

It seems there is a lot of dated bigger hotels in CM

We are waiting to see if our chef friend can get them a deal at Shangri-La or Dusit
If not we will go with the Dusit Princess

    Thanks for the help

Part of it being a more established city.. Theres 20 and 30 year old hotels gone through multiple facelifts..

I am house hunting again.. and the mountain of 20 year old badly build shit with nasty wooden furniture is just mind blowing.. And yet all the new stuff is with 2m of border around the house and the neighbor..
