Bangkok is one of my 5 cities in the world.

I think like most I was a bit overwhelmed but the city has grown up immensely.

Incredible restaurants of any type of food.
    Great bars and clubs

I've gone to great art galleries.

    The streets are just electric

I'd be very happy to live in Thonburi(which technically isn't Bangkok 555)

There are so many great areas of the city now

I am in Thailand for just 4 days in Dec and it's all in Bangkok

I find people crazy that skip it when they go to LOS

    By the way
I no longer look at Bangkok as a Thai city
I just think of it in International terms

I don't feel the need to have just a Thai-centric experience there

I like Bangkok too... spent 3 months there in one go a few years back... and always spend most of my time there every trip... I'm not a big fan of big cities usually, but Bangkok has a buzz about it...

Thats what i love with Bangkok. Have stayed a lot in Ramkamheang, Townintown, wich has a nice vibe. A little slower pace, and shitloads of nice restaurants.

    That's exactly what we do.
Train there because of traffic and a quick, cheap taxi on the way back at night

I posted this here before and I don't know if still going well but the EatIGo app is unreal

It breaks down restaurant discounts by area and type of food.

I eat late so was getting 50% off my meals
We also got 50% off Sunday brunch at Sofitel

The only thing is if I am going to be in Bangkok only and not hit a beach area after I have to stay on the the river.

    If I don't i just can't into holiday/vacation mode

I always try and get a couple of days in Bangkok just to break the travelling up a bit and it's a city where no matter how many times you visit there is always something new to explore. I think too many backpacker types base their view of Bangkok on a couple of nights at khao san road which totally does the place no justice, Silom ismy preferred spot.

Has anyone got a preference between Nana and Cowboy?

I usually stay near Asoke and enjoy Cowboy but I've never been to Nana at night.

Must say I always liked Patpong better.
But as the French say "il ft un temps". (There was a time).

I'm here in Bangkok now, staying at the Renaissance for the first time - landed a nice corner suite with great view of the city. It's at Chit Lom so slightly out of the way, but less than I expected since the BTS is pretty close. I lived here for about 10 years before moving down to Phuket 2 years ago = considering moving back as though. As much as I love Phuket, there is so much more to do in Bangkok -- but then there is the massive traffic and amount of people and, really, Patong has most of what I am looking for! So I'm not sure at the moment what I'm gonna do = but I defo enjoy a few nights in Bangkok!

Ps. Much prefer Cowboy to Nana, especially the Bacarra end with the Corner bar, and also the old Long Gun for the memories. Nana the place to go if you want to find a girl 100% for sure, the place is easy for that, and some guys can even find tackle on their girls if that's what they like LOL

Cowboy has Cockatoo for that too, unless it's closed as it's been 2 or 3 years since I was last allowed down there 55
