555 Allowing them to make a phone call to an unknown person in a language they didn't understand..............Priceless.

The Italians talked their captors down to THB1 million, saying they would call their family in Italy to transfer the money. The gang did not realize the tourists were, in fact, calling for help.

Shortly thereafter the Italian police contacted the Lumpini Police Department who immediately called the hotel where the men were being held.
And this bit is also priceless..

So we have a kidnap gang who are probably rogue police.. Best phone ahead so they know to scarper..

The TAT will be working overtime to spin this.. Once cops start kidnapping tourists for ransom.. Thats not good PR..

... The officers were part of a drill in order to train how to free hostages. By a mistake, they took the two tourists hostage instead of the two police officers they were supposed to take hostage.

... The Italian tourists are lying, we have been looking at the CCTV footage and found nothing wrong.

... The people taking the Italian tourists hostage has never been employed by the police.

.... through great risk and very noble actions, the 2 Thai police officers that were kidnapped by the Italian Al Queda, have escaped!
