    Thailand Tourist Photos !

I am starting this thread to give visitors to this forum an idea about the various parts of Thailand , just some basic pictures of tourist sites etc.

I'm sure others will also post some of their photos and provide some helpful information for those thinking of visiting , there are members of the forum living in the major tourist areas who have a good knowledge of places to go and helpful 'local' information.

    Big Buddha Phuket

The Big Buddha of Phuket, พระพุทธมิ่งมงคลเอกเนาคคีรี (Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Akenakiri or Ming Mongkol Buddha), is located on the peak of a mountain near Muang Phuket, or Phuket Town(ภูเก็ต) on Phuket Island, Thailand.

    James Bond Island

James Bond Island is a famous landmark in Phang Nga Bay. It first found its way onto the international tourist map through its starring role in the James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. A distinctive feature of this famous bay is the number of sheer limestone cliffs that vertically jut out of the emerald-green water.

    Koh Samui

    Wat Plai Laem

Wat Plai Laem is located near Choeng Mon Beach in Koh Samui and is one of the most interactive and colourful temples on Koh Samui and the main reason for this is the beautiful eighteen-armed statue, sitting in the middle of the lake.

Koh Racha Island.....a beautiful island off the south coast of Phuket. This island is much less crowded than the likes of Phi Phi and has some great snorkeling spots around it too. Staying on this island can be very expensive but there are a couple of bar/restaurant shacks that serve food and drinks at very reasonable prices!

Best time to visit these islands would be during high season between November and April as the sees are calmer and clearer!

Phi Phi Island.......another picturesque island that also featured in the film 'The Beach'!

This is a stunning island about a 90 min speedboat trip from the South Coast of Phuket depending on sea conditions. There are a few hotels on this island and many choose to stay over for a few nights to soak it all up but also suitable for a day trip if you make it an early start.

Songkran Festival..........the infamous Songkran Festival that takes place each year around mid April. Everyone gently throws water at each other during the day and there is a great party atmosphere around.

*Beware that EVERYONE is fair game when walking around the streets during Songkran so expect to get wet and leave your mobile phone etc in a safe place or wrap it in a waterproof bag. Have Fun!! :-)

    1. Sea Gypsy Village near James Bond Island - There are literally dozens of families living on these 'floating villages' for generations. You can stop by for lunch at one of their makeshift restaurants to experience what it might be like to live there.

    2. Surin Beach - This beach is about 20mins (by car/mbike) north of Patong City on the West Coast of Phuket and is much quieter than Patong Beach with cleaner water too. There are lots of beach side restaurants to choose from if you get a little peckish during the day!

    3. Khai Island

    4. Bangla Road - This street comes to life at night time with lots of bars and clubs pumping out music and dancers til the early hours of the morning. This street pedestrianized from about 6pm every evening. Apparently this street is littered with handsome men everywhere!

Nice idea and nice photos. But if it is supposed to attract new users, you have to write some more text to the photos. Otherwise Google and other search engines won't have much to index. Also, it will be best if the text is placed next to the photo it is describing.

    Chiang Mai

Khantoke Dinner and Traditional Dance Performance

A traditional Lanna Khantoke Dinner and Cultural Show is a special Thai dining experience. The shows feature a selection of traditional dances and performances unique to Northern Thailand such as Fon Lep (or ‘Finger Dancing’), Fon Thean (or ‘Candle Dancing’) and Ram Dab (or ‘Sword Dancing’). The Northern Thai-style dinner is served in a traditional way — you sit on the floor with the dishes on low tables. While you eat, you can watch and enjoy the classical Thai dance performances.
