Flight TG-679 suffered a runway excursion accident upon landing at Bangkok-Suvarnabhu

ASN Aircraft accident Airbus A330-321 HS-TEF Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK)

An Airbus A330-300 operated by Thai Airways International suffered a runway excursion accident upon landing at Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), Thailand. Initial media reports indicate there were 287 passengers and 14 crew members on board. At least twelve were injured.
Flight TG-679 landed on runway 19L at 23:26 following a flight from Guangzhou, China. It apparently went off the right side of the runway, causing the nosegear to fail. The airplane was evacuated.
Reportedly a fire erupted in the right hand engine, which was put out by airport fire services.

Initial reports suggest that it wasn't weather related. Maybe the pilot swerved to avoid the buffalo.

Weather reported about the time of the accident (16:26 UTC / 23:26 LT):
16:30 UTC: wind calm; Visibility: 10+ km; broken clouds at 30000 feet and 12000 feet, few clouds at 2000 feet; Temperature: 26C, Dewpoint: 23C, QNH: 1012 mb.

Yeah I've read about that, they are not sure at present if the landing gear was faulty on landing or whether the pilot ran off the runway damaging the landing gear? I suppose the little black box will tell them? or from eye witnesses etc?

    Spot the Difference !

So , what's the difference between the 2 photos ?

After the accident and evacuation of passengers by slide, the airline moved in maintenance crews who immediately began work to cover up the national flag and Thai Airways International logos on the aircraft. By daylight, the plane was supposedly anonymous.

Face.. Quick remove evidence of bad things happening, not the actual thing happening seems to be the way to go.

Hurry up and cover the company name and logos following an airline accident/incident has been standard procedure in the U.S., for the last 20 years or so.

I think it just dissuades the picture takers from spreading the bad news (and company name etc) around the net.

Suppose after 20 years they have just got to be a bit quicker or indeed think up a new ploy?? news spreads a little faster now.

I think their mistake here was maybe being too quick?

I mean, they were busy covering the logos before the passengers belongings were retrieved and all.

I know it seems like a crazy ploy, but everyone does it. 555

    Hah...555

Now this is what is called a "T.I.T" moment, for sure.

Thai Airways officials were quick to defend the "blurring" of the company name and insignia's following the accident. They stated that this was at the direction of the "Star Alliance", of which they are a member.

(The Star Alliance has disavowed any such directives)

The Thai Airway officials stressed that it was an effort to protect the Star Alliance and the airline from any embarrassment from photos being taken.

    OOOOPSY-OOPSY... (Star Alliance logo 555)
