    Another Thai moment....

Today I went to the Andaman Club to get another 90 days out of my visa. For once I have nothing bad to say about immigration, they were all polite and got it done fast.
Today's moment was a busload of Thais that came with their pocket full of money for the casino. We were 6-7 foreigners coming for visarun, someone came before the Thais, someone after. Anyway, when the boat arrived (on time) the twat of a staff told us foreigners to step back..."Thai people first" she shouted, and the boat got filled up.
So we had to wait for another 30 minute for the next boat.
Sometime I wonder if they don't see the rudeness in things like this, or if they just see us as 2nd class people......
Anyway, will still use them as I don't like the longtails and the Burmese hassle at Victoria Point.
That was my rant for today 5555

Geir - why do you buy/rent your own longtail/speedboat? - probably not a bad business for KP anyway.

You can sail to Ranong from KP, do your own hop to Kawthoung (Victoria Point for you Imperialist 555) and your own boat back!

No doubt you could make all your money renting the boat to Khun D on one of his fishing trips 5555

[Still remember my Last Days of the Raj moment when I came to see you after my Mergui Island sailing - and they laid on a boat just for me ... still as I'd paid $125 for the special permit to cross into Thailand (avoiding trip back to Yangon) I suppose not so bad ... and I didnt loose any money in the casino.

I bit unreal the Myanmar (Burmese) giving the Thai's (who they once completely dominated ... noting Ayuthaya and CM ruins) priority over farangs! 5555

I've used the "Pom Pee lawk khao mai?.....mai hen pom mai?" (Am I a white ghost...you don't see me?) line at some 7-11 girls when they have allowed thais to push in front me when i am waiting with my item in hand and my money thrust towards them..the look on their faces is always priceless 555

Just a stupid comment from me - could it possibly have been because the Thais had their pockets brimming full of Bahts to spend in the Casino and the feral farangs were just going over and straight back??? just a thought, most likely stupid, heh?????555555

Andaman Club is 100% Thai run business. They rent the whole island from the regime in Burma. Burmese immigration get payed to have an office there. They should be more careful in treating foreigners bad as most days it's not many people going to the casino. Maybe just stay away from the gap in weekends when the Thai gamblers are loose.
And I actually agree with Dodger, it's all about money. Which is why we prefer to go to foreign run bars/places and be treated with respect.

And BTW, ther price has gone up from 850 to 950..........not that it really matters. So probably 300ish Baht to save for budget people by going to Victoria Point. (remember to bring a spotless 10USD bill)

Spotless $10 bill plus, an umbrella to keep dry, ambre solaire to stop the sun burn if its not raining, false hearing aid so you can cop a deaf one and not end up buying drugs, condoms, viagra, also useful to avoid giving away all your own cigarettes to street urchins, trainers and a good sense of balance to leap from long tail to long tail getting back and remember to begin with bring your patience as it takes ages in immigration!!!

How can you not! What would happen if you did start? I really cant stand it, I really think it says a lot about a culture, their ability to form a line and not push in.

we used to have the Taiwanese consulate in our office building
it was a daily occurance, i'd be in the elevator and get to the ground floor and as soon as the doors started opening they rush in, bump right into you to get in
literally daily, i'd straight arm them
tell the fcukers to move the fcuk back

Every morning I jockey with the taxi's cutting you off in peak hour traffic.

Actually started to become quite entertaining when you observe all the various altercations.

Had a guy on a bike the other day who wouldn't let it go as he verbally abused some local guy in front of me who had cut him off.

Heard him shouting....'it's coz I'm white right?"

    Get's quite heated at 7am

Haha it was the same when i was in Shanghai getting on/off the subway. Lucky i'm a lot bigger than an average Chinese person so was pretty easy to stand my ground. I tried to think of a possible reason why you wouldn't let someone off the subway before pushing your way on, but I failed.

Yeah, the concept of a line/que is certainly not a worldwide phenomena...

That said, I live near the university here in CM and most of the time I hit a 7-11, it's one of the ones right around the corner. It might be the massive size difference, but I'd like to think it's a class/education thing... I've really never had a problem, even from clowning groups of young students.

Certainly had it happen elsewhere though. Not often, but it's happened.

As a follow up, I just asked the she-wok about this concept... she said "Yeah, sometimes people rude... happen to me too... many times because I am small maybe they think I wont say something... they dont know I have big mouth and will yak-yak".

So evidently it's not that we're singled out... they do it often to one another as well.

I experienced the best reaction at an information counter at Istanbul airport. A guy cut the line to ask the employee something about his flight. Very rude, kept speaking to the employee even though she told him to wait. Then she ignored him and helped the two persons in the line. When it was finally his turn, she closed the counter and told him to go to another one at the other end of the airport building.
