    Pattaya - Photo Tour

Decided against posting past trip reports but instead I'll upload some of the many pics I have of Pattaya to give people a taste of what the place is about. I'll begin with some sights from Walking Street.
    DSCF1933.jpg
Pattaya is most famous for it's nightlife and Walking street is nightlife central, there's probably over 100 gogo bars packed into WS. There's lots of open air music and places to eat too, this is the entrance from beach road - just follow the traffic and you can't miss it. Nothing much happens here during the day, but boy does it change at night.
    DSCF1779.jpg
A lot of gogo's have themes, Alcatraz has dancers dressed up as jailors and criminals and dancers in prison cells! one of the biggest gogo's in Pattaya.
    DSCF1770.jpg
Some of the many neon signs all vying for your Baht.
    DSCF1772.jpg
Lucifer disco is a popular spot to meet freelancers and for those who like to stay out very late and join in the dancing.
    DSCF1775.jpg
A snap of a side street(soi) there's quite a few of these on the left hand side walking up WS all packed with bars and gogo's, they can be like mazes and can be a bit hard to find things when you've had a few beers. Best to explore early in the evening and get your bearings.

There's a lot going on in Walking Street, these are a few pics of some the other things you'll see.
    DSCF1778.jpg
Thai BBQ, great value and great tasting. Try it out! If you're a bit scared of street food there's a McDonalds about halfway up WS but this is better!
    DSCF1784.jpg
The Tourist Police golf buggy doing what it does best, giving the Tourist Police something to sit on. Tourist Police was a great idea that should be so much better in practice.
    DSCF1783.jpg
If you need a break from all the gogo's or you have a new female friend to impress, buy a dress.
    DSCF1785.jpg
The Walking Street disco located just as you enter WS, read the sign.
    DSCF1943.jpg
A bored "hello welcome" girl leans up against a car outside Airport agogo. These girls are everywhere on WS trying to tempt you into their club with happy hour offers of cheap draft beer and ping pong shows.

Some pics of Walking Street by day and the pier beyond.
    DSCF1938.jpg
One of the side Soi's as evening approaches. Note a couple of early Hello girls from Secrets on the right.
    DSCF1940.jpg
Fahrenheit a gogo doesn't quite look the same during the day does it?
    DSCF1977.jpg
The "other" Walking Street sign, just keep walking away from beach road and you'll get here eventually. It brings you up to Bali Hai pier where lots of tours out to the islands depart from.
    DSCF1971.jpg
And this is Bali Hai Pier full of Russian tourists.
    DSCF1972.jpg
A couple of boats and an expensive seafood floating restaurant.

Beach road is Pattaya's busiest road with over 2km of shops, bars, vendors and some say a beach. This tour begins at the Dolphin roundabout at the end of 2nd road. If you grab a baht bus on 2nd road they should turn left here to continue onto the one way beach road heading towards Walking Street.

A Thai salesman selling all sorts of useless stuff on beach road, you'll see this a lot in Thailand as people with little education try and scrape a living.

Thais are famous for their ability to sleep anywhere, this woman takes a nap on a wall with 3 lanes of constantly beeping traffic and 30+degree heat.

    DSCF1708.jpg

    DSCF1703.jpg
The infamous Soi 6 looking very innocent from Beach road. Soi 6 is full of short time bars from early on in the day, it's cheap and dirty, some like it, some don't. Expect some in your face soliciting if you walk up here.
    DSCF1705.jpg
A Thai vendor selling fresh produce to workers on beach road. In addition to sleeping anywhere Thais also will prepare food and eat anywhere.
    DSCF1823.jpg
A Thai lady squashed in between a row of motorcycles prepares fresh fruit to sell to passers by. The trays will sell for about 30-40 baht, fresh and tasty.

    DSCF1820.jpg

A nice seafood restaurant on beach road near Pattaya central. They do a lovely Hawaiian chicken salad served in a pineapple. I once saw 12 Indians share a large bottle of Heineken here once.

Buddha images and alters are everywhere in Pattaya, Thais usually leave some food and drink here at alters for their departed spirits, red fanta seems very popular in the afterlife.

Soi Buakhao is a popular spot to stay for a lot of BM's, easy to get around Pattaya, nice bars and places to eat and not as crazy or expensive as Walking Street or beach road.
    DSCF1884.jpg
This is what the LK Royal Suites consider royal, serviced apartments outside of the main hotel on top of a 24 hour Family Mart. I stayed here for 10 nights and didn't get much sleep thanks to noise and light streaming into the room all the time. Anyway it's at the start of Soi Buakhao coming from Pattaya Central road.
    DSCF1886.jpg
Walking away from Central road you'll some come to a bend which is pretty hectic and not great with footpaths.
    DSCF1892.jpg
Around the bend are a few massage shops, $3 for a foot massage, nice way to pass an hour.
    DSCF1893.jpg
Further down Soi Buakhao is Jollys Restaurant, nice spot, 24/7, foreign and Thai food.
    DSCF1900.jpg
Pook bar is a Ladyboy bar with some very good pool players, a low hassle place if you want to get up close but not to close to the LB's.

The right turn before LK Metro is Soi Honey(11) which will bring you to 2nd road. There's lots of massage girls and beer bars, further down on the right is one of the soapy venues - Honey body massage, well worth a trip, very nice rooms although maybe not the same size of choice as in Sabai Dee. Handy though considering the amount of nice priced hotels around here. Opens around 1pm.
    DSCF1907.jpg
The view down Soi Honey, a few massage girls are sitting down on the left.
    DSCF1908.jpg
Continuing on Soi Buakhao you'll see a sign for LK Metro, this is a popular nightlife spot with plenty of gogo's and regular bars, guest houses, some nice places to eat too. If you fancy some daytime action, Champagne agogo open around 2pm although with a limited amount of dancers. LK Metro is an L shaped street so walking around here will bring you onto Soi Dianna.

    DSCF1916.jpg
Walking around the L facing Soi Dianna, an early Champagne a gogo dancer complete with luminescent green dressing gown probably after grabbing some lunch.

Turning right from LK Metro brings you onto Soi Dianna and walking on for about 100 metres brings you to the Soi Dianna beer bar complex. Opposite the LK Renaissance hotel and beside the Megabreak pool hall. It's about a dozen beer bars, complete with music, tv's and some great people. My own favorite is The Nid bar(the one with the balloons). It's ran by a Thai military policeman who is a looper but in a good fun way. Buy him a drink, it'll be worth it. Open pretty much all day and most of the night.
    DSCF2089.jpg
Nid Bar sign, a little obscured by national flags.
    DSCF1999.jpg
The lovely Ning from Nid bar, doesn't work bar any more but had some good times with this lady. Note ladyboy to the right.
    DSCF2002.jpg
A typical night at a beer bar, handcuffs, whistles and beer.
    DSCF2096.jpg
Some foodcart bbq and a few drinks complete with BG Mon giving the traditional peace sign. give the girls some money and they'll get lots of food, bring it back to the bar for everyone to share.

Soapy's: Body to body massage, 2000 baht for 90 minutes at the last time checking which gets you 90 minutes with a lady of your choice where you'll get cleaned from head to toe in a bath then it's onto an air-mattress for a body to body massage that is quite the experience. There's also a bed which is where you should end up on. The ladies usually expect a tip so have a few hundred baht notes ready, 200-500 depending on performance.

There are 3 soapy joints located near Soi 2 on 2nd road. Directly opposite the Big C is Sabai Dee massage, the biggest of the 3.
    DSCF1682.jpg
The routine is that you stroll in to a large seating area and there's anything from 20-50 ladies depending on the times you visit sitting behind glass - This is known as the fishbowl. You can order a drink and soon enough you'll be approached by a papasan who'll ask you which ladies you like, a good tactic here is to ask him to recommend a few. The ladies all wear number badges and you just tell him which one you'd like. Then it's time to pay and off to the room. The rest of the building is laid out like a hotel as is your room but it will also have a large bathtub.

    DSCF1680.jpg
Walking back up 2nd road is Sabai land body massage, never have visited so can't say what the service is like here.

In between the other two Sabai's on the opposite side of the road is Sabai Room massage

    DSCF1678.jpg
On Soi 11(aka Soi Honey) going from 2nd road to Soi Buakhao is Honey body massage, probably the nicest of the lot although doesn't have the selection available that Sabai Dee does.
    shb.jpg

Very much recommend a soapy, most of these places open early enough 1pm-ish so make a good daytime activity. Drink etc are reasonable enough and they have ladydrinks but my experience is the ladies prefer a tip.

Saw that on their website, odd to move in where all the competition is. No sign of a Tootsies in Patts yet!

Have a stroll along Soi Baukow and see if the Rehab Bars and Action Street have got any busier , they were very quite when I last went there , you can even stop by and say hello to Scott and Pang from the Ladyboys TV series

Shopping is plentiful in Pattaya, there are 4 large shopping malls stretching the length of 2nd road and an endless amount of markets, stalls and hawkers.

Central Festival is located near Soi 9 on 2nd road and you can walk all the way through here to Beach road if you fancy some aircon. 7 floors of everything and anything including a huge food court in the basement and a massive cinema on the top floor. The lifts are at the Beach road end but there's lots of escalators.
    DSCF1659.jpg

Further down 2nd road heading with the flow of traffic is one of the Big C's(Carrefour) Nothing too exciting here and a much smaller setup then Central. Maybe worth a browse if you're in the area.
    DSCF1838.jpg

The SFX cinema at Central Festival, top class cinema at very reasonable prices, Thai ladies do enjoy a trip to the cinema so do consider the 2 seater couches at the back for some fun.

    DSCF1870.jpg

A view down Central Festival just to give an idea how big the place is.

    DSCF1871.jpg

Heading down 2nd road against the flow of traffic, near Soi 13/3 is the Royal Garden Plaza seen here from Beach road. A smaller setup than Central but with some nice shops and places to eat. If you're entering here from 2nd Road just keep an eye out for the place crashed into a building which is a sign for "Ripleys believe it or not" which is on the top floor of the plaza.

Continuing with the sales theme, you'll see a few of these Ronald McDonalds giving a wai around Pattaya. Most western fast food joints are open 24/7 around Pattaya if you need some home comforts.
    DSCF1717.jpg

Orange juice carts are scattered all over Pattaya, 20 Baht for some cold freshly squeezed OJ. There's a guy up near Megabreak on Soi Dianna who has an interesting way of saying Orange Juice, usually visit him in the morning where he always has my oj waiting for me.
    DSCF1903.jpg

You may see something a little unfamiliar at the side of the road in all types of bottles. This is petrol, usually around 40 baht for a litre. Handy if you're running a little on empty.

    DSCF1991.jpg

Pattaya city walk is a pedestrianized walkway from 2nd to Beach road with various vendor stalls selling the usual souvenirs, clothes and Buddha images. Located near Royal Garden Plaza. Seen here from Beach road.

Can you still drink with one kidney? Cuz I'd probably sell one right now to be there!
