Glad ya had fun, but I've generally tried to avoid it. Worse in CM where it lasts a week and there's always some moronic drunk who wants to start 2 days early and other drunks who want to keep playing 2 days after.

Seems they can't go out in Chumpae to have Songkran and throw water.
    It is raining.
Big party tonight. Also collected a lot of money for the priests.

I ended up in Chumpae on one of my motorcycle wanderings around the north. Dinky little town, but it had a hotel and a 7-11 and a few bars, so it worked well for what I needed it for.

... or the (Thai) lunatic that thinks throwing a frying pan at a truck load of kids (my son included) is a fun novelty, fortunately no serious injury.

    From the Chiang Mai mail.

Day 2 saw 63 killed and 491 injured in 471 accidents in one day nationwide. In the first two days of the 7 dangerous days of Songkran (Friday and Saturday) 102 people were killed and 893 injured.
Jeez.. Would want to know whats an average daily tally but that seems crazy..

first 3 days 161 dead 1640 injured...i find these figures twice a year amazing...should reach an average of 350 to 400 dead and 2000 + injured over 7 days,
apart from reporting the death toll daily you don't hear that much about it.

Bangkok post did an article on boom time for the coffin makers.

First trip to Thailand, just before Songkran 2007, I noticed a poster on the road just outside the airport about road safety at songkran, with a goal of 5 dead for the week in Phuket..... Always wondered if they would just pick someone to shoot if there was only 4 dead at the end of the week...

They would probably claim that one of the guys that get shot died from a traffic accident 555
Like the unfortunate guys committing suicide with multiple stab wounds in their backs........

Not worse, but more common.......looks like rats when fried.
And yeah, the Thais like to drink but most of them can't handle much. I wish I was the same, it would take my budget down to 15k a month 5555

If I had to choose, I'd eat squirrel over rat. They're both rodents, but for some reason one seems way worse than the other. I guess much like in the TG world, being cute goes a long way...
