Just got back from Bangla Rd, Patong.
All the bars were still in full swing at 10.15pm and then 5 police walked up from Ratuchit Rd and the bar lights went off fairly quickly from then on as they walked up the street, stopping and having a word at some bars.
Still lots of people in Bangla and a lot of traffic moving and of course every street vendor was still open on the side of the road.
No road blocks or police checks anywhere we went.
All looks pretty relaxed and no sign of army or unusual numbers of police. If I was planning a trip here I would definitely come. Even if this carries on there is plenty to do and you just have to get back to the hotel a bit earlier. Lots of available ladies by the look of it.
Had a great meal at Summer Breeze and they gave us the latest info on the bars closing. Good place to go for info and a drink as all the staff have a reasonable knowledge of English.
Everything definitely seemed more relaxed than last night.
So curfew means no business not no one allowed on the street.
It appeared that way last night. We rode the bike and got home about 10.50pm. Still people walking, driving albeit much fewer than normal and one 7/11 still open. We certainly felt it was OK to walk down to the beach but were too lazy.
Don't know how you would get on after midnight riding or driving around but I would not do that. No point in pushing things, we are guests in their country.
Surprised the 7/11 stayed open beyond curfew.. They normally stick to rules being a chain operator. Would have expected it more from mom and pop places.
Just FYI A few of the Rugby boyz here for the 10's ignored police requests to leave SoiSeadragon at 10.30pm last night so 6 or 7 unarmed Army then turned up then they left (peacefully)....
I see from tomorrow [Wednesday] the curfew has been reduced to 12:00am - 04:00am!!

That's a start at least.
Bloody boring to have to have been out and eaten and home by 10pm.
Phuket Governor has heard, unofficially, that the curfew is likely to be lifted soon.
Phuket Governor prevents anti-curfew rally, whispers curfew repeal coming
The rally wasn't prevented...was down at Lucy's earlier and she showed me the pics.
