    Old Siam - Photo Thread

Browsing the net every once in while I find small collections of old photos of Thailand.. I guess others do too.

If they can be linked here this will make a good place to collect them together.

    1922 - Thai air Ambulance

Teak Logs being floated down river to Bangkok

I would say the opposite.. From feudal times dark skinned = peasant working outdoors.

Funny with the shots over the fields - almost as if they knew then that this would be a before video.

I think the building at min 1 could be Jaranya guesthouse near Soi Sansabai.
Visited that in 1992 with a gogo frm Rock Hard who stayed there and paid something like 5000 per month.
Was close to corner of 2nd street and Sainamyen. No other buildings around. Bars in Bangla had names like Koala Blue, U2 (then 50%owned by a Swiss guy who later went back to Switserland working in informatics), and Hard Roch (think that one stillexists in Soi Seadragon. First gogo was close to expat hotel ( not extasy) and Rock Hard had Dooley's with Big Bill on the groundfloor.

Nostalgia is great - but can you imagine the mosquitoes and mud-slush roads in monsoon season?

There's tons of photo albums of Thailand from U.S. servicemen who served there during the Viet Nam era. (1960's - 1970's) "google is your friend"

I like this compilation video of bars and girls in Khorat.

Also note the song by George Jones..."I always get lucky with you". 5555
