    Patong's new traffic lights

Patong has new traffic lights in about 8 locations.
Good, modern and bright, easy to see.
The problem is the installation was completed about 3 weeks ago and they were put onto flashing orange and red.
As yet they still haven't been turned on to control traffic.
    Any ideas why?

Because they have been paid for already..

Hence the actual purpose has already been served..

Maybe because they know that turning them on will have no control over traffic?

Longer than 3 weeks, it's been months in some places now. It confuses the hell out of foreign drivers.

Because flashing orange and red looks cool?

Orange? If so they are meant to be flashing?

I believe its to do with traffic flow, I also believe once traffic volumes increase over high season they will be put on to sequence.
Custard should be a colour...cos I could then paint over the mess I've just made!!!

Have they got the pedestrian crossing lights in Poo Tong working after 6-8 months?
    Does anyone stop for red?

When the lights were on here (Sansabai/Rat-u-Thit) a lot of bikes stopped, but most of the big trucks/cars or tuk-tuks just slowed down and just casually went through when there was a gap in people crossing (who were waiting for it to change before crossing).

So honestly I can't see them being that effective unless there's a copper pulling over Thai drivers.
