Tokyo to help with east-west rail link

Tokyo to help with east-west rail link | Bangkok Post: news

A railway from Thailand to Myanmar through Kanchanaburi has only been tried once before, but the project was halted in August, 1945.

Obviously th most experienced bidder for the project..

The project was not halted in 1945 as it was completed in 1943 .... I wonder what sort of "expat packages" the Japs will offer this time round.

The railway was completed ahead of schedule. On October 17, 1943, construction gangs originating in Burma and working south met up with construction gangs originating in Thailand and working north. The two sections of the line met at kilometer 263, about 18 km (11 mi) south of the Three Pagodas Pass at Konkuita (Kaeng Khoi Tha, Sangkhla Buri district, Kanchanaburi Province).[7]

    Enjoy...
